I'm seventeen and an aspiring music journalist. I've been invested in music for as long as I can remember, from obsessing over Taylor Swift's first album to forcing my dad and brother to camp out in the New York winter for one
direction, and now going to shows just about every weekend, i wouldn't be the person I am today without music. In fact, I'm listening to music as I write this, shoutout Bombay Bicycle Club. My Spotify yearly wrap up has actually been disturbing, gathering 111,000+ minutes of listens in 2018 alone... like... am I okay? Probably not but it's fine! More specifically than music, I'm super passionate about smaller, local artists and watching them grow and evolve with time. Befriending your local music scene will bring you nothing but joy as you watch them succeed with their goals. When asked what kind of music I listen to, I panic, because it's truly impossible for me to narrow down my taste to just one genre. I go from Injury Reserve and Rico Nasty to Boston Manor and Movements to Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly quicker than I'd like to admit. Soleil is a platform for me to express my thoughts and feelings about music, but it also is a way for me to feature other creatives, whether it be their writing or photohraphy, to promote the unity that music
creates. "What's Soleil mean?" Great question, thanks random audience person! Soleil is “sun” in French. Every time the sun rises, a new day begins. a day for adventure, love, friendship, romance, and even more! At Soleil, I believe music encompasses all of these emotions. along with this, the sun is a source of light in our darkest times, a beacon of hope and faith, as is music.
