so social ep review

On Friday, December 7th, Smallpools released their highly anticipated EP titled “So Social”. Consisting of five high-spirited, easy to dance to songs, this EP is the perfect soundtrack to carry listeners through the new year. Ironically, the song “Social” who’s lyrics give a title to the EP, is really about choosing to not be social sometimes. It’s an anthem for people who decide they’d rather just stay home and chill than go out somewhere they know they don’t really feel like going. This song sets the mood for the rest of the EP, the other four songs following in its playful, upbeat footsteps. “So Social” goes from reminiscing on how a relationship went sideways, to going out into town and people watching. It takes many common human experiences and breaks them down into catchy, memorable anthems that stick with you. On December 2nd, Smallpools held an EP release show in Nashville, the town to which they recently moved. Being at the show was a feelgood, energizing experience, and everyone didn’t even know all the songs off the EP yet. “So Social” will definitely bring large amounts of success for Smallpools, with it already being loved by the band’s dedicated fanbase. In a world that seems to advertise being constantly on the go as a necessity, this EP will make you realize that maybe it’s okay to not be “So Social” after all.
